Connect your YouTube channel
Connect YouTube so Buron tracks your channel's views, watch time, and subscriber growth in Reports.
Connect YouTube and Buron tracks your channel's performance, views, watch time, engagement, and subscriber growth, in the same place you analyze everything else.
YouTube is usually a separate tab you forget to open: you know videos are getting views, but not which ones earn the watch time, where viewers drop off, or whether your subscriber count is trending up or down. YouTube has the data. This connects it so your channel sits next to your other channels instead of off on its own. Buron reads public metrics only, never comments or viewer data.
Before you begin
- A Buron workspace.
- A YouTube channel you own or manage. Channels are discovered from the Google account you authorize, and you pick which ones to sync after connecting.
- Admin access in your Buron workspace, so you can authorize the connection. You don't need any ads entitlement; YouTube isn't an ad platform.
- A Google account that can sign in to that channel, so you can approve the consent screen.
YouTube reuses the same Google sign-in as Google Ads, but it's a separate connection. So you can connect YouTube whether or not you run Google Ads, and there's no Google Ads developer token involved.
Step 1: Open the app
Open Settings → YouTube directly, or find it in Settings → Integrations and open it.
Step 2: Authorize
On the Connect tab, click Connect YouTube. You'll go to Google's consent screen, where you approve read-only access to your channel's analytics. Buron asks for two read-only scopes only, youtube.readonly to list your channels and videos, and yt-analytics.readonly to read per-day performance metrics. Buron can't post, edit, or change anything on the channel, and it doesn't read comments or individual viewer data.
When you come back, you'll see a Connected badge next to the YouTube title and a "YouTube connected" toast.
Step 3: Pick channels
After connecting, the Connect tab shows a Channels list, a checkbox row for each channel on your account. Tick the ones you want Buron to sync, then click Save selection. Only the channels you select are synced.
If you just made a new channel on YouTube and don't see it here, click Refresh to rediscover it.
Step 4: Sync
Open the Syncs tab and run a sync from the Data sync panel to pull the latest performance from YouTube. Recent runs show up on the same tab, so you can check sync health there too.
What Buron pulls in
Buron reads your channel's public metrics only, over the two read-only scopes above. Once a channel is connected and synced, you get three slices:
- Per video: Views, Impressions, Watch time, Avg view duration, Avg view percentage, Likes, Comments, Shares, Engagements, Engaged views, and Subscribers gained, plus each video's Title, Link, Published date, Channel, and Content type.
- Channel growth over time: Subscriber change, Channel views, and Subscriber count, by day and channel.
- Audience retention: the drop-off curve across a video, with Audience retention and Relative retention by elapsed percentage, for a single video or averaged across videos. This is the retention graph that shows exactly where viewers leave.
This is reporting, not attribution. YouTube metrics aren't joined to deals or revenue, so Buron won't credit pipeline or ROAS to a video. For revenue by channel, use the pixel plus a connected CRM (see Next steps).
Where to see it
- Datasets: find your three YouTube datasets in the list (search "YouTube" or filter to the Warehouse source). YouTube content breaks down views, watch time, and likes, comments, and shares by video. YouTube audience shows subscriber growth and channel views by day. YouTube retention is the audience-retention curve. Slice by video, channel, or date, then build a report from any dataset and pin it to a dashboard.
- Settings → YouTube: the Syncs tab shows recent sync runs and lets you re-run one. If the connection ever errors, the page shows a Reconnect needed badge.
Frequently asked questions
What does Buron read? Only your channel's public metrics, over two read-only Google scopes (youtube.readonly and yt-analytics.readonly). Buron can't post, edit, or change anything, and it doesn't read comments or individual viewer data.
Do I need Google Ads to connect YouTube? No. YouTube uses the same Google sign-in as Google Ads, but it's a separate connection, so you can connect it on its own. There's no Google Ads developer token involved.
How do I choose which channels sync? After you connect, open the Connect tab, check the channels you want under Channels, then click Save selection. Made a new channel on YouTube? Click Refresh to rediscover it. Only the channels you select are synced.
Does YouTube data affect attribution or ROAS? No. YouTube is reporting only. It shows your channel performance next to your other channels and never feeds revenue attribution.
My badge says "Reconnect needed." Google's access expired or was revoked, so syncs paused. Open Settings → YouTube and connect again to restore it.
How often does it refresh? Syncs run on a schedule. You can also run one on demand from the Syncs tab.
